Software Testing: From Art to Engineering

For many years, software testing has been a critical component of any software project.  Some organizations even decided to award members of their test teams the title “Test Engineer” or deem them a certified software test engineer.  At the same, test teams have not even tried to utilize any precise technique by which they can design their tests.  Testers have not taken advantage of the many software engineering techniques that have existed in the literature for many years.  In this presentation, Dr. Hanna will show how test teams can use existing techniques and methods to precisely calculate and design their tests even before development teams have started their design work.  Furthermore, Dr. Hanna will show how these techniques can be used to unify the interpretation of requirements by developers and testers at the same time and how they can be used to develop systems that meet customer expectations.

Dr. Magdy Hanna, Chairman IIST
